Hyacinth Gawne
Hyacinth Gawne is a Manager at the Ministry of Transportation in the Ontario Public Service. She is responsible for managing the development of strategic policy analysis, commercial support, and oversight on major provincial transit infrastructure projects across Ontario, such as the Ontario Line and the Finch West Light Rail Transit. Earlier, in her roles at the Office of the Treasury Board, she provided advice to Cabinet committees on major capital projects, policies, and programs in the education and justice sectors including schools, correctional facilities, and courthouses.
Hyacinth currently serves as a Board Member at the Institute of Public Administration of Canada and is a mentor at the University of Toronto. Previously, she served as Vice Chair of Equal Voice, an organization dedicated to electing more women to all levels of political office, as well as District Delegate & Community Lead at her workplace union. In addition, she has had experience in supporting community issues, such as social housing in the Flemingdon Park area.
Hyacinth holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto; a Post-baccalaureate Certificate in Public Administration and Leadership from Toronto Metropolitan University; and a Master’s in Public Policy, Administration & Law from York University.
She was the recipient of the 2022 IPAC Emerging New Professionals Award for outstanding achievements and dedication to public service.
Hyacinth was elected to the Toronto Metropolitan University’s Board of Governors in 2024 for a three-year term as an alumna member.
