Ahmed Elshahed

Elected by Students September 1, 2024 to August 31, 2025

Ahmed is an engaged and dedicated student leader at Toronto Metropolitan University (the ‘University’). As one of the elected student representatives on the Board of Governors, he advocates for student interests, contributes to decision-making processes, and ensures that the University’s policies align with the student community’s needs. Ahmed is pursuing a Bachelor of engineering and is in his second year of mechatronics engineering. He brings a wealth of experience from his involvement in student organizations, clubs, and campus initiatives. He is committed to fostering a positive and inclusive university environment, promoting student well-being, and enhancing the overall student experience.

During the past few years, Ahmed has been a recipient of multiple prestigious awards for his exemplary community involvement. He is a recipient of the Lieutenant-Governor's Volunteer Award as well as the Ontario Principals' Council Award for Student Leadership. In addition to his involvement, Ahmed has achieved academic excellence and is an Ontario Scholar. He is also representing students across all faculties at the University on Senate and serves as a commissioner on the Engineering Student Societies' Council of Ontario. Ahmed looks forward to serving as a bridge between students and the Board of Governors, working collaboratively to shape the University’s future.
