During your first year at the School of Business Management, you'll acquire the foundational business knowledge that prepares you to specialize in a major.
The School of Business Management offers seven (7) unique majors to choose from:
Students will become well-versed in economic analysis and quantitative skills, essential to successful management decision-making in today’s fast-paced, global economy.
The EMS major is designed to meet the need for professionals with well-developed analytical and model-building skills. The EMS major also prepares you for graduate studies in various business and economic fields.
Students will learn how to become an entrepreneur and play a key role in society by relentlessly pursuing opportunities to create and sustain a competitive and viable enterprise. The ENT major is designed for you, whether your goal is to own your own business or to assist existing organizations grow and develop.
Entrepreneurship faculty are also dedicated to producing research that is of high academic and intellectual value, and relevant to industry. Researchers focus on addressing fundamental questions: where entrepreneurial opportunities come from, why some firms and individuals choose to exploit them, and how these efforts can be made more successful.
Acquire the managerial skills and cultural understanding required to function effectively in the new global business environment.
All businesses in today's marketplace, whether they recognize it or not, are affected by events taking place globally. The rise of China and India as major economic superpowers, global outsourcing and weakness in traditional markets such as the United States, are just a few examples of the challenges and opportunities facing managers today. As a result of globalization new competitors may be around the corner or halfway around the world.
Acquire the knowledge, critical thinking, and practical skills that will enable you to create organizational effectiveness, lead human resources management strategies, and enhance the human condition at work.
Students learn about all the major functions of HR Managenment such as recruitment and compensation, and develop Organizational Behaviour knowledge in areas such as leadership, interpersonal communication, and conflict managemen. Experiential learning is stressed in upper level courses through the use of simulated clients, role playing and on-line simulations.
Critical thinking and the application of legal knowledge are at the heart of all courses offered in the Law and Business major. Students are trained to identify and frame organizational problems from a legal perspective, but to develop business solutions. After finishing this program, you will be able to engage with and contribute to the growing needs of professionals who seek to ensure an organization’s regulatory and legal standards are met or exceeded.
Students will be well-positioned for work in both the private and public sectors, in specialties such as Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, Corporate Policy, Governmental Relations, Corporate Social Responsibility, Environment and Natural Resources.
Marketing students learn to interpret and respond to customer needs better than the competition by analyzing consumer trends, competitive activity and other factors.
Marketers analyze consumer trends, competitive activity, and other external factors and use this information to develop strategic plans that determine the products and services the organization will offer, and how they will be priced, made available and promoted to customers. Governmental Relations, Corporate Social Responsibility, Environment and Natural Resources.
Learn the skills that will allow you to flourish in the housing and commercial property arenas, such as real estate finance, property development, economics, sustainability and real estate law.
Real estate propels the local and national economy, and this major provides the expertise to excel in this bustling arena on both the housing and the commercial property side. You will study core subjects such as real estate finance, property development, economics, sustainability and real estate law. This flexible program allows you to customize your experience according to your own interests and career aspirations in real estate management.
School of accounting and finance
As a School of Accounting and Finance (SAF) student, you will begin your first two years in the program as undeclared.
You have the option to choose between two (2) majors:
Accredited by Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Ontario, our Accounting program offers an experiential learning curriculum that provides students the in-demand and career-ready skills to succeed in the job market upon graduation.
Gain relevant real-world experience through our competitive co-op program – TRSM is just steps away from the Financial District, and many co-op opportunities are a short walk from campus. You can also pursue your CPA Designation through a Professional Master's Diploma in Accounting.
Recognized by the CFA Institute, our Finance Program consists of a technical, practical and challenging curriculum that creates job-ready graduates.
As a Finance student, you can specialize in fields including personal financial planning (CFP), corporate financial management, or investment management. Finance graduates can move onto a variety of exciting careers in Toronto's Financial District – Canada's largest – just steps away from TRSM.

NOTE: There is a risk of delay in your graduation when changing majors in the middle of your study. This is to ensure you have taken all courses needed to fulfill the requirements of your new major. Always consult with your student advisor before changing majors.
Changed your mind on a major? Another field of study caught your eye? Not a worry, you may still change your major!
MyServiceHub only allows students to declare their major once. To change your major afterwards, you must complete and submit a Plan Change Form. Please fill out the form and email it to the student advisor of the major you wish to switch into.

Organizations of all types and sizes rely on information and communication technologies to remain competitive. BTM graduates will learn how to analyze business needs, design appropriate technology-based processes and solutions, and communicate these effectively. They will learn to lead work-based teams, participate effectively in projects and understand best practices of organizational change.
Students will develop skills in interpersonal communications, collaboration, and leadership. Graduates will be ready for high demand jobs in business analysis, project management, sales, consulting, customer and supplier management, and marketing support.
The Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Tourism Management offers an integrated and balanced program of applied education for the development of future managers and leaders in the Canadian and International hospitality and tourism industries.
Students in HTM are required to complete a total of 1,000 hours of documented work experience in the hospitality and tourism industry. This enables students to be exposed to a range of professional settings and to observe and evaluate industry styles of management in action. This first-hand experience helps many students clarify their career goals before graduation.
