High School Programs
All high school classes grades 10-12 are welcome to register for an in-person campus visit in which students will complete a first-year university science experiment in a wet lab or computer lab. Topics include chemistry, maths, medical physics, and robotics.

On-Campus High School Labs
Volunteers will guide students through a lab which generally takes 2 hours. All materials will be provided. In addition to the lab activity, campus or research facility tours may also be possible (subject to availability).
All labs will take place on campus in buildings located at Gould St. and Church St., Toronto. They are within walking distance of Dundas Subway Station.
Registration for winter 2025 is now open. (external link, opens in new window) Lab sessions are available from Feb to March 2025.
1) Chemistry - Photospectrometry
Date & Time: Mondays, 10am - 12pm
Description: Working in pairs, students analyze water samples using photospectrometry. Students must complete a pre-lab math sheet prior to the lab.
Length of Time: 2 hours
Capacity: 35 students
Grade: 11-12
Optional: TMU Campus Tour at 1-2pm
2) Medical Physics
Date & Time: Tuesdays, 10:45am - 11:45am
Description: Students learn to analyze medical images to determine whether a patient has cancer. No experience is required.
Length of Time: 1.5 hours
Capacity: 40 students
Grade: 11-12
Optional: iBest Research Lab Tour (St. Mike's Hospital) at 9:15am - 10:15am (subject to lab availability) or TMU Campus Tour at 1pm - 2pm
4) Computer Science - Robotics
Date & Time: Fridays, 10am - 12pm
Description: Students work with arduino robots to guide the robot through a simple obstacle course. Some coding knowledge is required.
Length of Time: 2 hours
Capacity: 27 students
Grade: 10-12
Optional: Workshop with TMU Robotics Team or TMU Campus Tour at 1pm - 2pm
Registration
Using our Google calendar system you can book the date that works for your class directly. We will follow up with confirmation details about your lab.
Teachers may only book one lab per semester and then may request to be waitlisted for additional labs in the same semester.
If you are planning to bring multiple classes to our labs (90+ students), please contact us directly at scixchange@torontomu.ca (opens in new window) . We will do our best to accomdate all students in a single day.
We enjoy posting photos of our school visits. Please have your students submit (PDF file) image consent forms (opens in new window) and let us know if any parents decline consent.
