Thomson Reuters has news bureaus around the world, including six in Canada. Roy Thomson acquired his first newspaper, the Timmins Press in Ontario, in 1934, before building up a newspaper empire, while Julius Reuter produced his first newssheet in 1849. Today, Thomson Reuters has international holdings in financial, legal, tax and accounting, scientific, health care, and media markets.
