David Tafler Scholarship for Excellence in Magazine Journalism
About the award
For the graduating student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership skills, academic excellence, passion and dedication to the craft of magazine journalism, and is respected by his or her peers.
The family, friends and colleagues of David Tafler created a scholarship in recognition of the outstanding contribution he made to Canadian journalism. Tafler had a long-running syndicated business spot on Canadian radio stations, wrote a number of books on personal finance, and started the website and magazine of the Canadian Association of Retired Persons. He served on various publications during his long career, including the Montreal Gazette and the Financial Times. At the time of his death he was editor and publisher of 50 Plus.
