Jasmeen Deeng, 2023 WiTH Cohort
Jasmeen Deeng currently works full-time for the City of Vaughan, but also partakes in various extracurricular activities. She is the Social Media Coordinator for BAM Collective (Books, Art, Music Collective); and is currently taking the role as a Project Strategy Coordinator for a grant given by City of Toronto, which is focused on addressing violence in the city.

Priyanka Arora, 2023 WiTH Cohort
Priyanka is a recent graduate from TMU and is currently working towards applying to law school in Ontario. In the past, she has volunteered at a constituency office in Brampton. Currently, she is volunteering with Bonnie Crombie who is running for leader of the Ontario Liberal Party. She also works with South Asian Yard under their artist commission program.

Khushi Shah, 2023 WiTH Cohort
With a profound enthusiasm for politics and law, Khushi Shah stands as an accomplished advocate for positive change. Hailing from Toronto, her commitment to fostering equity and community is unwavering. Khushi's mission revolves around seamlessly integrating politics, law, innovation, and equity, all while nurturing a culture of advocacy. Her professional and inclusive approach drives the engine of positive change, leaving an indelible mark on every endeavor. Personally, she's passionate about social work, creative expression, and public speaking. As a coffee fanatic, she finds joy in discovering new cafes, exploring the city, and networking, all of which contribute to her dynamic persona.

Hannah Cox, 2022 WiTH Cohort
After taking the Women in the House program as a substitution course, Hannah was able to bridge her interests of immigration and GBA+ in the coursework, allowing her to write an in-dept briefing note and policy paper on the Russia-Ukraine conflict and how it specifically affected Ukrainian women. Since graduating, Hannah has been working for the Research Network on Women, Peace, and Security, creating a report card on the Arbour Report of the Canadian Armed Forces, looking into how the Government is creating culture change. Hannah hopes to pursue law school in 2024 to increase women's representation at the policy development level.

Nardos Tedros, 2022 WiTH Cohort
Nardos is an advocate for social justice while championing for equitable education policy which has been reflected through her academic and experiential background in policy development, research, administration, and community outreach seeking to bring about community activism. As she is currently pursuing a Masters of Public Policy and Administration at TMU, she wishes to continue working in such spaces. On her free time, she enjoys reading and her favourite genre of music is Afrobeats.

Julie Anker, 2022 WiTH Cohort
Julie graduated from the Master of Public Policy and Administration program at Toronto Metropolitan University in 2022. Julie is currently a Program Analyst at the Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility within the Ontario Public Service and she is passionate about diversity and inclusion, gender equality, accessibility and skills development. Julie is very excited to be an ambassador for the Women in the House program this year.

Zaima Aurony, 2022 WiTH Cohort
Zaima is currently doing her M.A. at Norman Patterson School of International Affairs in International Economic Policy and Data Science. She aspires to work in the federal government after graduation. During her undergrad at TMU she was involved in student leadership in IEFCU, TMU Senate and TMSU. She also worked at the Ontario Ministry of Finance, TMU Faculty of Arts, and in the Women in the House Program. Outside work and school, Zaima considers herself a foodie and enjoys trying different cuisines with her friends and family.

Naomi Addai, 2021 WiTH Cohort
Naomi Addai is a keynote speaker, digital marketer and lifelong learner who is passionate about marrying the political and the creative world. Her TEDx Talk “How to Live When We’re Dying” was presented in 2021 at the University of Toronto. Now, she sits on the marketing board for Nobellum enterprise; a social enterprise dedicated to that startup of 100 Black Businesses by 2025. She is also a senior account manager at Let’s Snack Toronto marketing agency where she has done marketing for a slew of clients including Tim Hortons, Kobo Books, Sweet n Nice Ice Cream and Rubicon Exotic.

Josel Angelica Gerardo, 2020 WiTH Cohort
Josel Angelica Gerardo is a Philippine-born, and Tkaronto-raised professional in municipal politics and a master’s student in political science at University of Toronto studying the politics of identity and belonging. As a young queer Filipina immigrant, Josel was quite involved in student leadership such as student government and university research projects focusing on mobilization, and equity, diversity and inclusion. Nowadays, Josel is also a community organizer, primarily in youth advocacy, Filipino/a/x-Canadian and 2SLGBTQ+ communities. From a professional role in higher education leading democracy initiatives to progressive politics, Josel is committed to positive change-making in local and national communities.
