External Grants
REMINDER for EXTERNAL GRANT HOLDER ONLY: As per TMU's Financial Services policy regarding supporting documentation for travel for external grant holders, just a friendly reminder that travellers are required to obtain prior approval before scheduling any travel plans for University business. The (PDF file) Research Travel Authorization Form (RTA) form (Page 1) should be filled out and signed by the traveller and their "one up" PRIOR to travel. This form should be kept on file and submitted to your RASO upon return from travel, along with the receipts and all backup documentation for reimbursement. Page 2 of the RTA form is required to be included in the reimbursement package, post travel, for TFA only.

- NOTE: TMU has internal grant deadlines for all external grants.
- Research Information System (RIS) is a system for recording and obtaining approvals for research proposals. It has a required Grant Authorization Form (GAF) to be completed prior to submission of all external grant applications to the potential funder.

2. Congrats you got the grant, now what?

- You may also wish to consult eHR for guidance on different types of employment categories. Simply type your question in eHR.
- Estimate cost (including benefits) of hiring research staff (requires TMU login)
- Most hires must use timesheets and the hours reported must be approved by you through eHR. In order to avoid delays with pay, employees may subscribe to receive timesheet reminder notifications by visiting the Calendar Notification System
- Research Information System (RIS) helps you track your funded proposals and other research-related agreements.
