Display: Larger
Screen Fonts
Making the screen fonts bigger in Windows 9x
The default setting
for the size of the screen fonts is generally too small for most seniors.
It is quite easy to change the "Windows Standard" size screen font to
"Large" or even "Extra Large". This is done through Control Panel's
Display icon.
- There are 2
ways to get to the Display settings
- Click:
Start | Settings | Control Panel | Display
or
- Right click
on "blank" desktop (where there are no icons) and
choose "Properties" from the fly-out menu.
- The window
titled Display Properties will appear. There are four "tabs" on
this window. Choose "Appearance".
- Click on the
drop down arrow next to "Scheme:"
- Scroll down
and choose "Windows Standard (large)"
- Click on "OK"
You may return
here and change back to "Windows Standard" or even "Windows Standard
(extra large)" whenever you like.
All aspects
of the display sizes, font faces, colours and spacings may be
"customized" here. "Schemes" also has many "pre-design" schemes
you may try.
On the "Settings"
tab is where you may change the "screen resolution
via the "Desktop Area" slider. The higher the number, the smaller
fonts will get. A Desk-top Area of 800X600 (SVGA)
