The Office of the Vice-President Equity and Community Inclusion (opens in new window)  is proud to host this year’s White Privilege Conference Global (WPC-Global).

The conference will address global perspectives on white privilege and oppression in Canada (and beyond).  This is an opportunity to engage in critical discussions about diversity, multicultural education and leadership, social justice, race/racism, colonization, sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression, religion and other systems of privilege, power and oppression.

Our strategy in addressing issues of inequality involves bringing together a consummate network of both national and regional lead learners and practitioners to work and lean from each other. This synergistic collaboration produces both paradigm shifts and personal action. The WPC provides an opportunity for participants to discuss how white privilege, white supremacy, and oppression affects daily life while giving strategies for addressing issues of privilege and oppression and advancing social and economic justice.

  • WPC is a conference that examines challenging concepts of privilege and oppression and offers solutions and team building strategies to work toward a more equitable world.

  • It is not a conference designed to attack, degrade or beat up on white people.

  • It is not a conference designed to rally white supremacist groups.

  • WPC is a conference designed to examine issues of privilege beyond skin color. WPC is open to everyone and invites diverse perspectives to provide a comprehensive look at issues of privilege including: race, gender, sexuality, class, disability, etc. — the ways we all experience some form of privilege, and how we’re all affected by that privilege.

  • WPC attracts students, professionals, activists, parents, and community leaders/members from diverse perspectives. WPC welcomes people with varying levels of experience addressing issues of diversity, cultural competency, and inclusion.

  • WPC is committed to a philosophy of “understanding, respecting and connecting.”
