Canada Research Chairs
Canada Research Chairs (CRCs) are allocated every two years based on a university’s share of total Tri-Council funding over the previous three years. Through their research excellence, Ryerson’s CRCs are making a positive impact on the socio-economic well being of Canadians and advancing their fields of study internationally.
Ryerson was awarded three new CRCs in 2016, bringing our total positions to 20.
Ebrahim Bagheri (Electrical and Computer Engineering) received a Tier II CRC in Software and Semantic Computing, equipping data scientists and engineers with cutting-edge techniques for building applications that can manage a variety of big data.
Anatoliy Gruzd (Business Management) received a Tier II CRC in Social Media Data Stewardship, providing stakeholders with a clear framework for collecting and using social media information for market and customer research.
Anton de Ruiter (Aerospace Engineering) received a Tier II CRC in Spacecraft Dynamics and Control, developing new dynamics, guidance, navigation and control techniques for deep space exploration.
