Masters Swim
Description
The Masters Swim Program caters to rookies, ex-national and varsity swimmers, and triathletes. We practice all four strokes- butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle- and teach technique including starts, turns, dives, and finishes. We have a team of coaches who provide feedback and sets. The program is recreational in nature and style with a focus on community, fun, and friendship. Some athletes race in the winter and spring seasons and have even participated in competitions around the world.
Minimum Swimming Level: Before joining, participants should be able to swim four (4) lengths of the pool continuously in order to take full advantage of this program. If you need support developing your swimming ability to this level, consider enrolling in swim lessons in the Fall & Winter (email aquatics@torontomu.ca for more information).
When:
Participants are welcome to attend any or all of the following practice times:
- Mondays & Wednesdays 7:00pm-8:30pm
- Fridays 6:30am-8:00am
- Saturdays 7:45am-9:00am (off-campus during Summer season)
Expectations:
Participants should bring: swimsuit, goggles, swim cap, towel, and a positive attitude.
The Masters Swim program aims to create a team-like community for swimmers looking to advance their skills and have fun doing it. This is only possible if all members are working toward that goal. In support of this goal, it is required that:
- Participants must be present within the first 20 minutes of practice in order to attend. (Jumping in late isn't fair to the coach, and detracts from the community experience.)
- Participants must do the assigned workout while attending Masters Swim. (A range of skill levels is accepted, but everyone works toward the same goal each practice.)
Registration
- Registration is required, and can be done in-person at RAC/MAC or online by clicking 'Register' below
- All participants must hold an "All-Access" Ath & Rec membership (or be a Toronto Metropolitan University student). A "Mornings & Weekends" membership holder is not eligible to join Masters Swim.
