The Counsellor Award recognizes demonstrated excellence in professional service to the Centre for Student Development and Counselling, the university or the community.
Award recipient(s) will receive a certificate of recognition and a monetary award of $2,000 as a one-time payment (subject to applicable deductions).

Maria Chaparro
Student Wellbeing
Maria Chaparro is a skilled, empathically attuned, and dedicated therapist at the CSDC, and provides excellent clinical care to students. Outside of her clinical work, Maria has brought her expertise to key leadership roles at the counselling centre, including participating in the ECI working group, leading a peer consultation group, and leading the psychology internship program. In these roles, Maria has been instrumental in fostering professional development among our trainees and staff and furthering our continued focus on ECI work at the centre. Maria is very deserving of this award for her knowledge, care, and commitment to the CSDC.
