Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) undergraduate degree or certificate students may submit online, courses completed at other accredited Ontario institutions for credit towards their TMU program of study.
Students that have taken courses at institutions outside of Ontario must manually submit a Transfer Credit Application.
The Transfer Credit Process
- The student enters the details of the course they want to be evaluated for a transfer credit.
- The Transfer Credit team verifies their submission and, if necessary, forwards it to the appropriate faculty for evaluation. This part of the process can take six to eight weeks.
- Once the evaluation is done, students and staff can view the results on their Transfer Credit Report.

This is the student's Transfer Credit Report. It shows the results of their course submissions for transfer credit. The report is divided into three sections:
- Course Credits: Courses that have been accepted and/or denied as transfer credits and those pending validation. Once validated, these are recorded on the student's TMU academic record with a grade of CRT and are not included in the calculation of their GPA.
- Other Credits: Challenge credits that are based on skills and knowledge gained through work experience are recorded on the student's TMU academic record with a grade of CHG and are not included in the calculation of their GPA.
- Denied Credits: Courses that have not been accepted as transfer credits. These are not recorded on the student's TMU academic record.
Note: To determine how transfer credits apply to a student's program/plan requirements, run their Advisement Report.
