Evelyn Nesbit This photograph of Evelyn Nesbit by Rudolf Eickemeyer, Jr. eventually became the face of Anne. The Delineator A Gibson Girl with the adult pompadour hairstyle, drawn by George Gibbs and first featured on the cover of The Delineator of New York in January 1905, would become the cover for Anne of Green Gables. Godey’s Lady’s Book (June 1883) featured gorgeous fashion plates in beautifully tinted colour and Maud collected many in her scrapbook. Ellen Macneill L.M. Montgomery’s relative Ellen Macneill, a Nova Scotia orphan, had arrived in Cavendish in 1892. Her adoptive parents Pierce and Rachael Macneill had expected a boy.
