Frequently Asked Questions

Interns must complete a minimum of 300 hours.

GCM students in their 3rd Year must be eligible to participate in the internship program in order to attend the Career Fair.  This requires that students have completed GCM 220 Graphic Communication Processes 3, GCM 370 Management Studies, and GCM 375 Project Management for Graphic Communications.

GCM students in their 4th Year may elect to participate in the Career Fair if they are in the final term of their studies.

Most interns start their work in May and work full-time until August. In many cases employers choose to keep interns on a part-time basis during their final year of studies.

At the Career Fair you will get to meet many potential employers in one day thanks to the short interview format (12 minutes for grads, 10 minutes for interns). Most employers then set up second interviews with candidates of interest.

The next step of the recruitment process after Career Fair is in the hands of the employer. Some students may be hired on the spot while others will be invited to attend a second round of interviews. We have asked employers to send a courtesy email to students who showed interest in a position but were not selected for the role.

Professional attire is best. Business or business casual attire is recommended.

A wide range of companies attend our Career Fair including financial institutions, creative agencies, printing, packaging and media companies and so forth. You'll have an opportunity to view the list of companies prior to Career Fair and when you're ready to schedule interviews.
