Amazon Business at TMU
Toronto Metropolitan University holds a central account with Amazon Business. The account offers volume pricing that has been pre-negotiated for TMU employees and removes the necessity for multiple Amazon memberships across the university.
In line with TMU’s requirement to comply with Building Ontario Businesses Initiative Act mandates, Amazon has attested that they meet the definition of an Ontario business.

Ready to request an account?
If you’ve previously set up an Amazon account using your TMU email address, you will be prompted to select from three scenarios that best match your account’s purchasing history when setting up your central Amazon Business account.
The scenario you select may impact any personal Amazon Prime benefits attached to your account and may provide university administrators access to your account’s purchasing history. Please review the scenarios below for more context and to ensure you select the appropriate scenario that keeps your personal purchasing history private.
Purchase Scenario | Why choose this scenario? |
What happens if you choose this scenario? |
Will TMU administrators be able to see your purchasing history? |
---|---|---|---|
Scenario 1 |
You have no existing Amazon account |
If you have not set up an Amazon account in the past, there are no account merge impacts to note. |
N/A |
Scenario 2 |
You’ve only made TMU business-related purchases on Amazon |
Selecting this option will merge your personal consumer or individual business Amazon account with the new central university Amazon Business account and you will not be prompted to associate a non-university email address with your existing account. If you’ve signed up for Amazon Prime with your TMU email address, selecting this option will cause you to lose any personal Amazon Prime benefits like Prime Video, Music and Kindle and you will receive a prorated refund to the credit card used to sign up for these services, if eligible. If you would like to continue accessing Amazon Prime benefits, we recommend that you do not merge accounts and assign a new non-TMU or non-Ryerson email address to your personal consumer or individual business Amazon account. |
Yes, your purchase history will be visible. |
Scenario 3 |
You’ve only made personal purchases on Amazon |
Selecting this option will not merge your personal consumer or individual business Amazon account with the new central university Amazon Business account and you will instead be prompted to associate a non-university email address with your personal consumer or individual business Amazon account. |
No |
Scenario 4 |
You’ve made a combination of personal and TMU business-related purchases on Amazon |
Selecting this option will not merge your personal consumer or individual business Amazon account with the new central university Amazon Business account and you will instead be prompted to associate a non-university email address with your personal consumer or individual business Amazon account. |
No |
