Cleaning Standards and Schedule

Every day, custodial porters move through each building continuously and do any needed spot cleaning, restock the toilet paper in every stall, verify that the soap dispensers and hand dryers are operating, and make sure the plumbing is working properly by flushing every toilet and checking every faucet.
Deep cleaning of offices, classrooms and labs is performed at night. If students, faculty or staff have concerns about cleanliness anywhere on campus, they may contact the Facilities Help Desk at fixit@torontomu.ca or fill out the (google form) Cleaning Services Request (external link) form online and custodial services will be dispatched to address the issue.
Cleaning standards and schedule
All cleaning activities are controlled and monitored using a quality assurance program. This helps ensure that consistent custodial services are provided to all buildings.
All cleaning solutions are dispensed through a metering system to decrease the amount of solution applied, reducing the environmental impact. Day-to-day cleaning is done using ECOLOGO (external link) -certified cleaning solutions.
Our staff complete a wide range of tasks on a defined schedule that aims to maximize our resources while providing the best standard of service. These are prescribed and scheduled based on the nature of each space, the types of activities carried out within it, and the furniture, fixtures and equipment that it contains.
