Project Description
Human is an object that subverts traditional notions of object creation by drawing inspiration from the human body.
Lily Liu takes an approach that challenges us to rethink the relationship between the human body and the objects created by the human body. As well, to consider the potential for artistry and beauty in unexpected places.
Human is a vase made from merging the organic shapes of the human body with the functionality of a vase, with bold and sensual curves to convey a sense of elegance and drama, creating a unique piece of functional art that blurs the line between sculpture and object. The result is a tactile and visually stimulating piece that invites viewers to appreciate the beauty of the human form in a new and unexpected way.
Not “what can the human develop?” Rather, “what can be developed from the human?”
