Submissions for the 2025-2026 Undergraduate Calendar are open. Use the (google form) Calendar Change Hub (external link, opens in new window) to submit Category 1 and 2 changes.
Category 1 and Category 2 changes are due October 4, 2024.
Update a Liberal Studies table.
This is a Category 2 Minor Modification (opens in new window) .
Please note that there is a moratorium on the creation of new Liberal Studies courses, and no new Liberal Studies proposals for 2025-2026 will be considered.
1. The Teaching Department creates a new course.
- See Create a new course (opens in new window) for instructions on creating a course that will be added to a Liberal Studies table.
- Before proposing a Liberal Studies course, consult the Guidelines for the Development of Proposals for Liberal Studies Courses (external link) .
2. The Teaching Department submits a Curriculum-Level Change in the (google form) Calendar Change Hub (external link, opens in new window) .
- For "Where is the change occurring?", choose Degree Program.
- On the "Changes to Degree Programs" page, scroll to the bottom of the dropdown and choose "Liberal Studies Tables."
- On the "Description of Change to Degree Program" page, choose "Add" (if you are adding a course to a LS table) or "Delete" (if you are retiring a course (opens in new window) and need to remove it from a LS table).
- In the description of the change, write which table will be affected.
- E.g., "Add to Table A - Lower Level Liberal Studies"; "Add to Table B - Upper Level Liberal Studies";
- If there are any program restrictions as determined by the Liberal Studies Committee (in collaboration with Teaching Department and affected Program Departments), note them in the description of the change as well.
- E.g., "Not available for credit for English program students."
3. Once the Curriculum-Level Change is submitted, you will get a link to a Google Doc in your email.
- (google doc) Use the Google Approvals function on this document (external link, opens in new window) to get endorsements from the following stakeholders:
- Chair/Director of Teaching Department
- Dean of Teaching Department
- Liberal Studies Coordinator
- Only Curriculum-Level Changes that have received endorsements will be reflected in the Calendar.
- Endorsements indicate that teaching department and program department agree to the change and their Dean(s) support it.
- Endorsements also allow Undergraduate Publications to know that the change has gone through the proper channels. This eliminates ambiguity and allows us to input calendar changes efficiently.
PLEASE NOTE: If the new Liberal Studies course is being added to a core curriculum elsewhere, then a separate Curriculum-Level Change needs to be submitted. See Add a course to a curriculum (opens in new window) for instructions.
(E.g., if SOC 999 is being added to both Liberal Studies Table B and Sociology Table II, then a Curriculum-Level Change needs to be submitted to add it to Sociology).
