Polly Shkuratov, School of Accounting & Finance

As a first-year student at Ted Rogers, I have found my TedPack to be incredibly beneficial in helping me navigate the transition to university life. The mentorship provided by TedPack Ambassadors and Mentors has been invaluable in guiding me through academic challenges and offering support in building my network. Through participating in TedPack events, like TedPack Trivia, I have connected with fellow students who share my interests and values, forming meaningful friendships and fostering a strong sense of community within the Ted Rogers School. Overall, TedPacks has enhanced my first-year experience by providing a supportive structure that has helped me thrive academically and socially.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Our first-year students receive TedPoints for engagement beyond the classroom, with one TedPoint earned for each hour of engagement across our school.

Why? Because we know that you can maximize your first-year university experience as you access supports beyond the classroom while learning, building your network and a stronger sense of community with other students and the school. Whether it’s a one-on-one chat with a Career Consultant, Learning Strategist or Student Advisor, taking part in a TRSS student group-run event, attending tutoring sessions, Bootcamps or attending any TRSM events students are rewarded with TedPoints.

Making friends can feel daunting when starting your first year at university. That’s why Fit for Business created TedPacks. TedPacks are small groups of about 45 first-year students in the same program, providing students with an environment to build friendships and connections from around the world. Students remain with the same TedPack for the full academic year as they continue their university journey.

You will get access to your TedPack through a Google Room Chat connected to your TMU (torontomu) email. In your TedPack, you will have one TedPack Ambassador (first-year student) and two TedPack Mentors (upper-year students in the same program as you). This will give you the opportunity to meet, chat, and connect with them to ask any questions you have with just a few clicks.

To find out what TedPack you’re placed in, check your weekly Fit For Business (FFB) email! The banner at the top will have your TedPack number and your accumulated TedPoints.

Previously known as TedPack Leaders, TedPack Ambassadors are incoming first year students that are going to be assigned to their TedPack of around 45 students. Fit For Business (FFB) has changed the name of the role to ambassadors to make the position more inclusive and better reflect the responsibilities. The Ambassadors’ objective is to increase student engagement within the Ted Rogers School of Management and connect students to events and supports that relate to their program of study. They will be interconnected with Business Career Hub (BCH) and the Ted Rogers Students' Society (TRSS) ambassadors. They will also support recruitment events, student panels, and promote events and support through social media and word of mouth.

TedPack Mentors are upper-year Ted Rogers School students who are in the same program as their matriculated TedPack and their purpose is to provide mentorship and guidance to TedPack members so they can better succeed in their first year. TedPack Mentors will also have access to an Alumni Mentor which are graduated students who provide 1-1 mentorship to the TedPack Mentors.

Currently, TedPack Mentor Applications are closed. Please check back in Spring/Summer 2025 to apply to become a TedPack Mentor for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Alumni Mentors are graduated students who are connected with a TedPack Mentor, and their purpose is to provide 1-1 mentorship to TedPack Mentors. It’s an opportunity for Mentors to connect with Alumni who have been in the same shoes as them and also in the workforce so they can offer career guidance and professional development.

As a first-year student at HTM, I was quite nervous about how this virtual year would go and worried about connecting with others and making new friends. That's why I decided to become a TedPack Ambassador. Being in a TedPack gave me a lot of opportunities to make friends and bond with my fellow classmates. It has given me more connections, and the knowledge I gained from this experience is phenomenal. I strengthened my leadership qualities, stepped out of my comfort zone, and connected with my upper years.

As a TedPack Mentor, I connected with first-year students to enhance their experience and transition into an entirely virtual undergraduate environment. My mentee, Harsimran Dhillon, blew me away with her determination and passion right out of the gate. She wanted to make the most out of her undergraduate journey, and it was an absolute pleasure to see her grow and dominate her first year as a TedPack Ambassador at the university.
