The SLC is infused with collaboration, exemplified through its operating model that integrates a blend of students and staff at every level.

Student Learning Centre's Principles

Together, we designed the SLC principles to reflect Toronto Metropolitan University’s values and vision, ensuring a world-class learning destination for students:

  1. Respect the needs of the students.
  2. Maximize use of the SLC in ways that support the first principle and promotes academic stakeholder activity.
  3. Leverage opportunities for student and university community engagement

  5. Enhance Toronto Metropolitan University’s reputation.

From innovative learning to progressive operating models, the SLC is a physical manifestation of Toronto Metropolitan University’s spirit, engaging students and promoting their success through exceptional experiences.

Did you know that...

- The frit pattern on the glass exterior wall of the SLC creates a reflective surface to help with overall energy efficiency. The frit pattern is also a bird strike mitigation technique.

- The blinds are all programmed to respond to both solar radiation levels and temperature.

- There are three green roof gardens which helped qualify the SLC for a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). At least 50% of the roof is a green roof.

- The bridge between the SLC and the Library is free air space over city-owned O’Keefe Lane.
