At SciXchange, our mission is to make science engaging, comprehensible, and accessible to everyone. To achieve this, we host annual community outreach events designed to connect with a diverse array of community members. These events allow us to interact with and inspire hundreds to thousands of children and adults, fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding of science.

Science Rendezvous

Science Rendezvous (opens in new window)  is Canada’s annual celebration of science. This free festival, targeted to all age groups, makes science accessible to thousands of people with a day of engaging, informative and interactive events.

Check out our Science Rendezvous 2025 video (external link) . Save the date for Saturday, May 9, 2026, when we will introduce an exciting lineup of new activities and demonstrations for our next Science Rendezvous at TMU.

Online Resources

We also share online resources, including a variety of one-of-a-kind games, science experiment tutorials, exploratory videos and podcasts from science innovators, and more! All resources include a suggested age group, but feel free to view all activites.

Soapbox Science

Originally launched in London, UK, Soapbox Science (opens in new window)  is an innovative public outreach platform that promotes the work of women and non-binary scientists. SciXchange brought Soapbox Science to North America in 2017. These events transform public spaces into dynamic arenas for learning and debate, where scientists engage the public with their research using captivating props and their soapbox.

Check out our page with links to our past Soapbox Science Toronto events.

Join us for Soapbox Science 2025 on September 28th in partnership with Word on the Street Toronto. This free event welcomes people of all ages.
