President's Blue and Gold Award of Excellence Recipients

The President’s Blue and Gold Award of Excellence recognizes individuals and cross-functional teams in the administration of the university, who have demonstrated excellence in providing services, participating in or leading teams, and demonstrating the TMU values to achieve sustained and outstanding results that have significantly advanced the university’s mission. Individual recipients’ scope of influence and responsibility may be at the departmental and/or university-wide level.

Individual recipients receive a certificate and a one-time monetary award of $5,000 (subject to applicable deductions). Team recipients (a group of two to 20 individuals) receive individual certificates and a total one-time monetary award of $7,000 (subject to applicable deductions) to be shared equally among members.

Donna Bell

Senate

Donna is an innovator who consistently finds solutions to address complex administrative and operational challenges in the Senate office including supporting TMU Senate. This includes advancing the online appeals/ACR portal, implementing reliable technology for hybrid/in person Senate meetings including electronic voting, and establishing a transparent system for conducting Senate and AAA elections. This has led to a marked increase in trust and confidence in the Senate office. Donna possesses expertise in institutional processes and academic policies, along with having deep respect for TMU's values, enabling her to provide exceptional "people first" experiences to students, her staff, Senators, faculty and administrators.

For their contributions to the Innovation and Entrepreneurship ecosystem at TMU, enhancing student experience and programming aimed at facilitating the commercialization of SRC, the IBZ team are worthy recipients of the President's Blue and Gold Award.  Going above and beyond their mandate, without additional resources the team has undertaken supporting design teams in FEAS tackling pressing issues like early cancer detection and food scarcity amoung others, launched a new SDG focused program entitled "Hack the World inspired by TMU's focus on Sustainable Development Goals, built new supports for medical technology and life science companies and organized the 2024 Lab2Market Summit.
