Unique in Canada for its comprehensive approach, the Performance: Production degree program explores core topics related to live entertainment design and production, from concept to public presentation. This includes digital production, design applications, production management and marketing.

Study all aspects of production design such as costume, scenery, lighting, digital media and sound, while gaining hands-on experience in live shows and industry projects. Develop the technical, creative and leadership skills needed to produce large-scale productions like plays, dance shows, AR/VR immersive experiences and community art projects. 

You’ll work alongside artists, designers, animators, filmmakers and performers. Apply your studies in dedicated facilities including the proscenium stage, black box theatre, rehearsal halls, dance studios, lighting and sound lab, and costume workshops.

Performance Production students take interactive exhibition projects to industry sponsor event

The Show Systems Engineering class is an exploration of applications of networking and show control in the performance industry, including topics such as lighting, sound, projection, rigging, motors and system control languages. Performance: Production students engage in new technologies while developing an interactive experience as their cumulative assignment. These interactive experiences are displayed in partnership with industry sponsors UKAI projects and BlackTrax.

Academic requirements

This is a Grades-Only program. Admission decisions for Grades-Only programs are based on academic performance.

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent with a minimum of six Grade 12 U or M courses including the following program specific requirements.

Typically, a minimum overall average of 70% establishes eligibility for admission consideration; subject to competition individual programs may require higher prerequisite grades and/or higher overall averages:

  • English/anglais (ENG 4U/EAE 4U preferred).
  • The minimum grade required in the subject prerequisite (normally in the 65-70% range) will be determined subject to competition.
