Fourth-year Field Placement: Part-time Program

Course: CLD 464 Field Education IV

Your fourth year senior internship is an opportunity to take your knowledge, skills, and experiences to a new level and to o help you lay the groundwork for success in employment or graduate studies.

  • A self-selected field placement that specializes in an area of your studies

Your fourth-year field education placement is 22 full days.  

 Note: The prerequisite for this course is CLD 363.

This course is 22 full days in duration.
Depending on the semester, students may attend placement 3 or 5 days per week.

Fall 2024

3 days/week, September 9-November 8

Winter 2025

3 days/week, January 13-March 10

Spring 2025 3 days/week, May 5-June 23
Summer 2025

3 days/week, June 23-August  12

5 days/week, June 30-July 29

Note that non-academic documentation can take several weeks to complete. It is important to begin the process early to ensure that all documents are submitted by the required due date. To participate in this placement course, you must obtain the following forms:

Vulnerable Sector Screening Form (VSS)

  • Processed by the police service in the municipality where you reside.
  • If you reside in the city of Toronto (Postal Code starts with M), contact than.le@torontomu.ca for the Toronto Police Service VSS Agency Code and submit your application online.
  • If you reside outside of Toronto, contact your local police service to determine the application process.
  • The application form must be processed within six months of the placement start date.

  • Completed by a health care provider in the Province of Ontario.
  • Must be processed within six months of the placement start date.

Certificate in Standard First Aid and CPR Level C.

  • Contact the Canadian Red Cross, St. John's Ambulance, Toronto Metropolitan University Sports and Recreation or a certifying agency of your choice.
  • First Aid Certificate must be valid on the first day of placement. Check your certification to determine the expiration date.

How to submit non-academic documentation

All non-academic documentation is submitted electronically to ecsfielded@torontomu.ca

When ALL non-academic documents are completed scan or take a clear photo of each document and send ONE EMAIL that includes the following:

  • images of all documents with the processing/expiration date clearly visible
  • your full name
  • your Toronto Metropolitan University student number

Due dates:

  • August 9, 2024 for Fall 2024 placements
  • November 29, 2024 for Winter 2025 placements
