Project Description

10 student; 5 from The Creative School (Canada) and ENSCI (France) were matched randomly in advance of this international workshop. The 5 international pairs were introduced and asked to share information about themselves through virtual correspondence. During the course of the workshop, the partners were in constant touch, as they emailed, messaged, FaceTimed, and zoomed to get acquainted, they were further inspired by their counterpart’s likes and histories.

During the 2 week workshop, they learned and explored digital knit technology in their separate time zones. The correspondence became about communicating their successes and challenges while experimenting with the machine and programming. The beauty of the collaboration was the positive and exploratory spirit embraced by both schools.

This workshop produced a collection of innovative knit samples that will be compiled for both schools' archives. Most notably, we bonded through learning the technology, it ignited a relationship between the Creative School and ENSCI students, faculty, and institutions that have exciting future possibilities.
