Checklist for your Fall term start 

First steps:

Submit your transfer credit applications as soon as you have accepted your offer of admission. Follow up with course outlines, if required, as soon as your official results are confirmed. Applying early (May and June) facilitates course planning by allowing you to have your results ahead of course enrolment in August.

If you have a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP), you may be required to confirm your enrolment at TMU in order to access your savings. TMU provides a standardized Verification of Enrolment for new students that contains all information required by financial institutions, and is accepted in lieu of their forms.

Request Your Verification of Enrolment online between June 1 and July 19, 2024. Your official letter will be released to you online after you have satisfied the conditions on your Offer of Admission.

If you are no longer able to request a verification of enrolment you will need to wait until your class enrolment is complete and then request a Proof of Enrolment letter from your MyServiceHub account.

The Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) provides financial assistance through student loans and grants funded by the federal and provincial governments to students enrolled in post-secondary studies. Students whose primary residence is outside of Ontario should apply for funding through the government student aid program offered by their home jurisdiction.

To avoid delays in receiving your OSAP assessment and funds, we strongly encourage you to apply and upload all supporting documentation via the OSAP Portal (external link, opens in new window)  by June 30.

In mid-August, you must enrol into fall and winter term courses so that your course load matches what is reported on your OSAP application.

Visit Student Financial Assistance for funding details and application instructions.

Our Scholarships and Awards page has various entrance awards available for specific student groups. Most awards can be applied for from November to June. When you're ready to apply, visit AwardSpring (external link, opens in new window) .

Living in residence is not only convenient, but you will be part of a community and have a dedicated team of professionals and student leaders to help make your transition to university a smooth one. TMU has three residence buildings on campus, and a variety of room styles and living options to choose from.

June 4, 2024 is the last day to submit your residence application and application fee of $50 in order to be considered in the first round of Offers of Accommodations. Applications are still accepted after this date but will be placed at the bottom of the priority list. Please visit Important Dates - Housing & Residence Life for more information.

Find out more about living in residence by reviewing the Housing & Residence Life website, visiting campus or exploring our Virtual Tour

Apply to live in residence after receiving an Offer of Admission.

If you are receiving sources of external funding other than RESPs, scholarships and government financial aid (OSAP), such as bursaries from employers or pension funds, you may be required to confirm your enrolment at TMU to access these funds. In many cases, a standardized Verification/Proof of Enrolment letter can be requested online and is sufficient to confirm your enrolment. If you have questions about your letter contact the ServiceHub.

You have the option to use your chosen/preferred first name for internal purposes on campus, including as your display name in D2L Brightspace, Google Workspace and Zoom. It will also display to your instructors on class rosters and grade rosters.

You can update your chosen/preferred first name in MyServiceHub. Update your name before you apply for your student OneCard to ensure that it appears on your card. Also, updating your chosen first name before classes begins will ensure that it appears on class rosters. If you update your name after classes begin, your instructors may not know to use your updated name unless you contact them directly.

Note that your legal name on your student record will continue to be used for external purposes and on all official university documents such Official Transcripts and Graduation Awards.

Second steps (July):

At the end of July, you will be granted full access to your my.torontomu.ca student account, allowing you to access all current student academic and financial features on MyServiceHub, as well as the full suite of Google Apps.

In late July or early August, you will automatically be prompted to create a TMU username and set-up your student email address (name@torontomu.ca) when you log into my.torontomu.ca (opens in new window) . Once your email has been set up, all official university communications will be sent there. Remember to check it frequently!

Academic Accommodation Support (AAS) provides academic accommodation and related support to students with disabilities. AAS works with students to create and implement individualized academic accommodation plans so students can more fully participate in their studies. Students can register with Academic Accommodation Support once their TMU online identity (including email address) is activated.

TMU has a number of online activities planned this summer for you! Various workshops are available to help you with your math, writing and study skills. A number of Community Ready activities are also planned, which are not only a lot of fun, but a great way to learn about life at TMU!

Register for Get Ready: Summer Jumpstart events and workshops.

A number of jobs are available on campus through the Career Boost program. These positions are not only a great way to earn money, but they provide valuable work experience in academic, administrative and student service departments. Career Boost positions are available in late July and the application is available in August.

Visit the Career & Co-op Centre website for program eligibility and application instructions.

Navigate TMU is here to assist in guiding you through your university experience.

Final steps (August to September):

Your OneCard is one of the most important tools you'll need while studying at TMU. Apply online for your free card by using the OneCard application portal.

You can add your Digital OneCard to your smartphone/smartwatch via Apple or Google Wallet. It can be used to enter buildings on campus, access university services, and pay for products safely and securely.

You still need to pick up a physical OneCard. The physical OneCard will be used as identification during exams, tests, and other assessments. When picking up your physical OneCard, please know your student number and bring a valid piece of government ID.

New students are automatically enrolled into their fall and winter term required courses in early August, if they are admitted into the first semester of a full-time program and have confirmed their Offer of Admission by mid-July.

  • If you are automatically enrolled into your required courses, your class schedule will appear on your Student Center in MyServiceHub in early August. During your enrolment period, you must enrol into your elective fall and winter term courses and you can adjust your fall term course schedule.
  • If you are not automatically enrolled into your required courses, you must enrol into all of your fall and winter term courses (required and elective, if applicable) during your enrolment period.
  • For details about the classes you will be taking in your first semester please visit the Undergraduate Calendar.

The course enrolment period is from August 7, 2024 to September 13, 2024. In early August, your program department will send you additional information, and your specific course enrolment start date will be confirmed on MyServiceHub. See the Course Enrolment page on the Current Students site for additional enrolment information.

Your program department and faculty will support you academically during your time at TMU. Your program contact will assist you with course selection, connect you with support services and host orientations, workshops and other activities to help you make the most of your time at TMU.

Check out your inbox for emails from your program department in early August. Visit Student Portal, Email, OneCard and More section below for information on setting up your university email.

Tuition and fees are charged based on your course enrolments, and your fall term fees can be reviewed on your MyServiceHub student account starting in August. As fees are based on your enrolments, the fees balance posted on your MyServiceHub account may not reflect the correct amount until you have completed your course enrolments. To find out how much your fees are before you have enrolled into courses and your fees are confirmed on MyServiceHub, you can check the Undergraduate Tuition and Fees page.

If you have received an Entrance Scholarship, half of the amount will be applied to your MyServiceHub student account in late August, and will apply toward your fall term fees. The remaining amount will be applied to your student account in January, and will apply toward your winter term fees.

If you have applied to OSAP, you will receive an estimate of how much OSAP funding you are eligible to receive. Your OSAP funds will be dispersed to your TMU student account starting in early September, and you will be required to pay any remaining balance on your account. If your OSAP funding amount is greater than your student fees, any surplus of funds will be deposited into your bank account.

Visit How to Pay Your Fees for information on how to pay your tuition fees through online banking. Tuition fees are due by Friday, September 27, 2024.

Late fees will be applied to any outstanding fee balances the first of October.

TMU students are automatically covered for extended health and dental insurance coverage.

If you are covered by another plan, you may apply to opt-out by the deadline, and receive a refund for the TMSU or TMAPS Health and Dental Plans. Visit the applicable TMSU Health and Dental Plan (external link, opens in new window)  or TMAPS Health and Dental Plan (external link, opens in new window)  websites for opt-out information and deadlines.

There are many scholarships and awards available to TMU students. Awards may be specific to entering students, programs, faculties or special categories, while others are available to all students. Find out which awards you may be eligible for, and apply to them on AwardSpring (external link, opens in new window) , TMU's award management system. AwardSpring is available to newly admitted students starting in late August and awards will be posted starting in September.

If you have been awarded an entrance scholarship, you will receive confirmation of your award and conditions through your ChooseTMU Applicant Portal. Half of the awarded amount will be added to your TMU account in late August, and will be applied toward your fall term fees, and the other half will be added to your account in January and apply toward your winter term fees.

Full-time post-secondary students of any age can save 40% with PRESTO on GO (external link, opens in new window) . Applications for the new school year typically begin in late August.

Please visit GO Transit's website (external link, opens in new window)  for step-by-step instructions on how to apply the discount to your PRESTO card.
