HOME Minors Physics Minor

Physics Minor

The Physics Minor provides students with the opportunity to deepen their understanding of physical concepts as well as acquire lab and problem solving skills in Physics. The Physics Minor provides an option for students to have an emphasis in a field other than their own; the additional qualifications give them the opportunity to diversify in their choice of graduate program or career after graduation.

The Minor is not available to students in Medical Physics program, in the Biophysics option of the Biology program, or in the Applied Physics option of Chemistry program.

To receive the Minor, a student must complete six (6) courses from the following curriculum:

Two (2) courses from the following:

PCS 120 Physics I, and
PCS 130 Physics II
or
PCS 125 Physics: Waves and Fields, and
PCS 211 Physics: Mechanics


NOTE:

BEng students will take PCS 125 and PCS 211.
BSc students will take PCS 120 and PCS 130.

Plus one (1) course from the following:

PCS 228 Electricity and Magnetism
PCS 300 Modern Physics

Plus three(3) courses from the following:

PCS 107 The Natural Context
PCS 110 Physics
PCS 224 Solid State Physics
PCS 227 Biophysics
PCS 228* Electricity and Magnetism
PCS 230 Photonics and Optical Devices
PCS 300* Modern Physics
PCS 335 Thermodynamics and Statistical Physics
PCS 352 Nuclear Physics/Radiation Protection
PCS 358 Mechanics
PCS 400 Quantum Physics I
PCS 510 Fundamentals of Astrophysics
PCS 700 Quantum Physics II
PCS 724 Condensed Matter Physics/Materials
