SPANISH MINOR

Commencing 2013-2014

This minor presents an excellent opportunity to acquire the necessary language and cultural skills to be able to use Spanish as part of your academic and career plans.

Students must take six (6) SPN courses, including up to two (2) Liberal Studies courses, to achieve their minor.

Based on the results of their online placement test, students will be advised to enroll in any of the courses below. It must be noted that many language courses build on the learning of previous courses; therefore, it is difficult, if not impossible, for students to take more than one SPN course per semester.

To receive the Minor, students must complete six courses from the following course of study:

Two of the following:

SPN 402
SPN 515
SPN 702
SPN 802

Four of the Following:

SPN 301* SPN 702
SPN 401* SPN 704*
SPN 402 SPN 708*
SPN 501* SPN 710*
SPN 510* SPN 802
SPN 515 SPN 803
SPN 601* SPN 804*
SPN 610* SPN 810*

* A maximum of two Liberal Studies courses may be applied to a Minor.  These two Liberal Studies courses can be used to fulfill both Liberal Studies requirements and the Minor requirements. Students interested in pursuing a minor in Spanish should consult with the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures early in their studies. To achieve a minor in Spanish, planning is key.
