THE G. RAYMOND CHANG SCHOOL OF CONTINUING EDUCATION

The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education is Canada’s leading provider of university-based adult education. We extend learning opportunities to people who wish to continue their education, build on their careers, upgrade their professional skills, or start a new career on a part-time basis.

Programming strengths of The Chang School are reflected in our 91 certificate programs (in which 22 certificates can be completed entirely online) and more than 1,500 courses, seminars, and workshops offered yearly in Arts, Business, Communication & Design, Community Services, Engineering, Architecture and Science, Gateway for International Professionals, Programs for 50+, and Spanning the Gaps program areas.

The Chang School's instructors come from the University’s schools and departments, as well as from Toronto’s business, cultural, and academic communities. They bring professional experience and teaching expertise to the classroom.

Many of the courses offered through The Chang School are degree credit and may be used for transfer credit/advanced standing, if admission is secured, to many of our part- and full-time degree programs. For specific certificate admission requirements, please refer to the Chang School website.

The Chang School is committed to developing new delivery modes to increase the accessibility of our programs. We continue to respond to community needs by offering degree-level courses for nurses at regional access centres across Toronto and Southern Ontario. The number of courses we offer during the Spring/Summer term continues to increase and, in response to student demand, we have increased the number of workshops and week-long intensive courses, seven-week accelerated courses, and weekend offerings.

The Chang School offers programming through distance education. Over 400 courses are available through various learning modes:

  • Internet
  • Classroom/Internet
  • Videoconferencing/Internet
  • Print and audio

Students can choose from several certificate programs available entirely at a distance, as well as numerous programs that can be partially completed through study at a distance.

Continuing Education students are important to the University and have access to the Ryerson Library, laboratories, and support services, including career planning and study skills workshops, career services workshops, the in-house services offered by the Career Development and Employment Centre, and tutor support.

Open House sessions are scheduled throughout the year to enable students to enquire about specific continuing education certificate programs and courses. Please contact the office or visit the website for specific dates.
