Category 1 and Category 2 changes are due October 4, 2024.

Change mode of delivery.

This may be a Category 2 Minor Modification (opens in new window)  or a Category 3 Minor Modification.

 Consult the  (google doc) Guide to Curriculum Modifications (external link, opens in new window)  from the Office of the Vice Provost Academic for to determine which category applies.

1. Go to the  (google form) Calendar Change Hub (external link, opens in new window) .

  • On the first page, choose "Course-Level Change" and enter the course code.
  • Then, choose "Existing Course."
  • Follow the prompts to enter the necessary information until you reach the Mode of Delivery section.

2. Select the mode of delivery the course will be offered in.

  • Modes of delivery are defined as follows:
    • In-Person: A synchronous course that meets in-person at a scheduled time in a designated room. A small proportion (≤ 20%) of class meeting time can be online synchronous or online asynchronous. Changing a course to In-Person is a Category 1 change.
    • Blended (In-Person): A course with both in-person and online components in which a significant portion (≥ 33%) is in-person and a smaller portion is online (either online asynchronous or online synchronous). Changing a course to Blended (In-Person) is a Category 2 change.
    • Blended (Virtual): A course with both in-person and online components in which a significant portion (≥ 33%) is online (either online asynchronous or online synchronous) and a portion (≤ 20%) is in-person and. Changing a course to Blended (Virtual) is a Category 3 change.
    • Online Synchronous: A fully online course that has scheduled meeting times but no designated room, in which a small proportion of class meeting time can be online asynchronous. Changing a course to Online Synchronous is a Category 3 change.
    • Online Asynchronous: A fully online course that does not have scheduled meeting times. Any synchronous opportunities offered by the instructor must be entirely optional for the learner. Changing a course to Online Asynchronous is a Category 3 change.
    • HyFlex: A course that is both in-person and online simultaneously with a scheduled meeting time in a designated room. Students move between online and in-person instruction as they see fit. A small proportion of class meeting time can be online asynchronous. Changing a course to HyFlex is a Category 3 change.
  • Approval of a change in mode of delivery indicates that a course can be offered via In-Person delivery as well as the selected mode.

3. If you are changing the mode of delivery to any Blended or Online options:

  • The final page of the "Existing Course" section asks "Are you making a Curriculum-Level Change involving this course?"
  • Click "Yes" to proceed to the Curriculum-Level Change section.
    • This will let you submit a Category 2 change for the purpose of recording department and decanal approval.

4. In the Curriculum-Level Change section ...

  • Select "Degree Program," and then choose the appropriate program from the dropdown list.
  • In the "Type of Change" section, choose "Mode of Delivery."
    • Then, select the same mode of delivery that you chose in the Course-Level Change section.
  • You will also be asked if the course is part of any other programs.
    • If you are unsure, check the curriculum by course report or check the links on the course page in the most recent calendar.
    • If you choose "Yes," you will then be asked to list all the programs.
    • Please ensure that you all affected program departments have held department council votes approving the change.

5. Once the Curriculum-Level Change is submitted, you will get a link to a Google Doc in your email.

  •  (google doc) Use the Google Approvals function on this document (external link, opens in new window)  to get endorsements on your change from the necessary stakeholders.
  • If the course is part of any other programs, add the Chair of the program department and Dean of the faculty (if different from the faculty of your program) as approvers on the same document.
  • Only Curriculum-Level Changes that have received endorsements will be reflected in the Calendar.
    • Endorsements indicate that teaching department and program department agree to the change and their Dean(s) support it.
    • Endorsements also allow Undergraduate Publications to know that the change has gone through the proper channels. This eliminates ambiguity and allows us to input calendar changes efficiently.

6. If you are changing the mode of delivery to Blended (Virtual), Online Synchronous, Online Asynchronous, or HyFlex:
