Overview

Margaret Yap’s research interests include human resources management in a global economy and diversity and equity in organizations focusing on ethnicity/race and gender. Prior to joining Ryerson, she was a research director at a non-profit research and advisory organization and had held numerous human resources management roles at a multinational organization, including a three-year international assignment in Asia/Pacific. She was the Director of the Diversity Institute in Management and Technology at the Ted Rogers School of Management from 2006 to 2011. Margaret has received numerous grants to conduct research projects in diversity in organizations and has published several articles on the topic. Her doctoral dissertation was awarded the best Ph.D. dissertation in Human Resources. The award was sponsored by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada. Margaret also received the HR Academic of the Year Award in 2012, one of the HR Summit Awards organized by the Human Resources Professional Association (HRPA) to recognize the very best in human resources management across the country.
