ISS Pre-Orientation

Get ahead of the game with the ISS Pre-Orientation Program! Set yourself up for success by completing the online modules and participating in Virtual Smart Start Meet-ups.

Online Modules:

There are four (4) Online Modules in the ISS Pre-Orientation Program. The modules will introduce you to Toronto Metropolitan University, our values, services and supports.  You can go through the modules at your own pace, as you prepare to begin the fall semester. Virtual Smart Start Meet-Ups

Virtual Smart Start Meet-Ups are an opportunity to meet other international students, connect with ISS staff and ask questions on your #RoadtoTMU!

Virtual Smart Start Meet-Ups are happening on July 15th, July 22nd, August 1st & August 8th at 10 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. Parents are welcome to join!

Join us in this interactive event that will equip you with all the resources and tools that support your success on your #RoadtoTMU. From Immigration Support to UHIP, we got you covered!

Tuesday 27th August

11AM to 12:30 PM Life in Canada SLC 8th Floor Are you an international student moving to Canada for the first time? Looking for guidance about life in downtown Toronto and studying at Toronto Met? Join us in this session where we'll navigate through your new Life in Canada! From transit to accommodation, local customs and more, our panel of upper-year international students are here to answer all your questions. With no professors or faculty involved, it's a safe space for open discussion.
1PM to 3PM City Immersion Tour

As a warm welcome to the city of Toronto, we will take you on a guided tour to some of the city's biggest tourist spots- we start at Yonge & Dundas, walk to Berczy Park, and with a stop at the Toronto Public Library. While we're there, you will also get a view of the city's vibrant financial district and the iconic CN Tower! With this tour, we hope you get a feel of being a tourist in the city before you embrace your new life as a student!

Wednesday 28th August

1PM to 3PM Tote-Ally Yours : Paint Your Own Tote ! SLC 8th Floor Join us at the "Tote-ally Yours" to make your very own tote bag! Get ready to express your artistic side and meet new peers! No painting experience needed - we provide all materials. Don't miss this fun opportunity to kickstart your academic journey with creativity and camaraderie!
3:30PM to 4:30PM From Toronto, With Love: UnderGrad & Grad ISS Lounge You're here, you've settled in, and you're all ready for classes next week! Take this opportunity to create a postcard for your family back home- we'll provide the stamps, pictures, stickers, and anything else you'll need to show your family and friends that even as you create your new life, you're thinking of them! As an added bonus, there will be snacks and an opportunity for you to show everyone where you come from!
Thursday 29th August 12PM to 3PM Annual Welcome Party DCC Rooftop It's almost the end of the week and you have spent a lot of time taking information in and preparing for your classes. Before we send you off to begin your new semester, we'd like you to join us in our Annual Welcome Party! The theme is Beach- get ready for some beachy music, decor, and dance! Start your school year right with fun, food, and games!
Friday 30th August 3:30PM to 5:00PM International Student Rez Mixer DCC Floor 8 If you're living on campus, this is the time to find your community of friends- the people with whom you will navigate your university life! While you're making new friends, we'll provide some fun and games, along with lots of snacks!
