What is a Microcredential?
A microcredential (MC) is a short, focused training program designed to help individuals develop specific skills for the workforce. Microcredentials at TMU are offered through the Chang School. For more information, visit Curv Microcredentials (opens in new window) .

How to Apply for OSAP for Microcredentials
The following direct educational costs, up to a combined maximum allowance of $5,000 per study period, are considered in the OSAP for microcredential assessment:
- Tuition
- Mandatory program fees
- Books
- Equipment (not including technology, such as a laptop)
To be considered for OSAP, complete the following instructions:
- Identify an OSAP-approved microcredential.
- Log into your OSAP account (external link) to apply for funding. If this is your first time applying for OSAP, create an account.
- Follow the instructions provided by OSAP to complete your application.
Funding Options
Unlike the full-time OSAP and part-time OSAP programs, OSAP for microcredentials is only provided by the provincial government, not federal. Students must accept both grant and loan funding. There is no grant-only funding option for OSAP microcredentials.
Microcredential and OSAP Processing at TMU
Once you have successfully applied for a microcredential and OSAP funding (if applicable), our office will review your OSAP eligibility. You can track our processing by reviewing the OSAP Document Processing Tracker. Any eligible funds will be disbursed according to the program schedule, typically within the first week of the program. Any additional fees for non-OSAP-approved courses must be covered separately by the student. They will not be included in your OSAP assessment.
Unlike the full-time OSAP and part-time OSAP programs, institutions do not receive OSAP for microcredential funding for tuition directly from the National Student Loans Service Centre (NSLSC). Students are responsible for paying their microcredential tuition, program fees, book, and equipment costs directly to their institution.
OSAP for microcredentials can be issued to students up to 14 business days after the end of their study period, provided the student adhered to all relevant OSAP application and document submission deadlines.
Multiple OSAP for Microcredential Applications
Students may be considered for OSAP for microcredential funding for multiple microcredential programs or courses that lead to a credential, provided that each individual microcredential program or course is an OSAP-approved microcredential.
Students may overlap their microcredential study period with an existing full-time, part-time, or Ontario Learn and Stay OSAP program that they are concurrently receiving funding through.
