MEC 8144-Advanced Reliability Modeling
The purpose of this graduate course is to present statistical and analytical approaches to reliability engineering as well as maintenance optimization. In the first part of the course, students will be introduced to reliability functions, reliability distributions, analysis of failure data, component and system reliability, design for reliability, common mode and common cause failures, system availability, stress-strength analysis, and FMEA. The focus of the second part of the course is placed on the methodology to model, construct, solve and interpret various maintenance decision problems including component replacement, inspection frequency, condition-based maintenance, and maintenance resource requirements.
