Vaidehi is a research assistant (data scientist) on the MEMO project at CERC Migration. Her role involves analyzing migration patterns and mobility trends using advanced data science methodologies, such as Natural Language Processing (NLP), Machine Learning, and Big Data Analytics, to generate actionable insights that support the development of migration policies.
She has a Master of Science in Data Science and Analytics degree from Toronto Metropolitan University, where her research focused on immigration discourse within public Facebook groups and pages. Using sentiment analysis and topic modelling, she explored public attitudes toward immigration, paying special attention to how geopolitical tensions influence immigration discussions and diaspora communities in Canada. This work revealed how diplomatic issues shape public perceptions of immigration. With expertise in Python, Spark and Hadoop, Vaidehi is passionate about applying data science to advance migration research and policy development.
