PROFESSOR DAVID MACKENZIE WINS RESEARCH AWARD

Professor David MacKenzie has been awarded a 2024 Dean’s Scholarly, Research, and Creative Activity Award. It recognizes individual faculty members on an annual basis for outstanding scholarly, research, and creative activities (SRC) achievements and their impact on their disciplines during the previous academic year. During the 2023-24 year, among other publications, Dr. MacKenzie produced two books: King and Chaos: The 1935 Canadian General Election (UBC Press) and Un Pays en Conflit: La tumultueuse election canadienne de 1917 (Les éditions Septentrion), a French-language translation of Embattled Nation (co-authored with Patrice Dutil).

Professor MacKenzie is a leading scholar in Canadian and international history and he teaches courses in Canadian history, Canadian international relations, and on Canada and the First World War. He is the author of many books and articles in the fields of Canadian foreign policy and international organizations, including Inside the Atlantic Triangle: Canada and the Entrance of Newfoundland into Confederation, 1939-1949, Canada and International Civil Aviation, 1932-1948, ICAO: A History of the International Civil Aviation Organization, and A World Beyond Borders: An Introduction to the History of International Organizations. He presently is combining his two fields of interest and working on a manuscript on the history of Canadian involvement in international organizations up to 1945.
