Planetary Health Design Jam Poster  (external link, opens in new window) 

The Planetary Health Design Jam aims to address the issue of excessive medical waste. This event is organized by The HUE Lab in collaboration with St. Michael's Hospital and Kingston University London. Students will be given a garbage bag full of common medical waste and tasked with manipulating the waste to create anything new and useful. The winning individual / team will be awarded with $1000. 

This application is open to all TMU students (undergraduate/graduate). Students may apply individually or in groups.

***The Planetary Health Design Jam kickoff session and material distribution will take place on March 17, 2023 at 1:00pm in The Catalyst (RCC 2nd floor). It is necessary to fill out this form and attend the information session if you would like to take part in this event. Once the form is filled out you will receive a google calendar invite.

All designs will be due on March 31, 2023 at 1:00pm in The Catalyst. Judging will take place at this time. Further information regarding design guidelines will be discussed during the initial info session.

Surgical Bra Redesign

The HUE Lab introduces Creativity and Critical Care - a research and development series that pairs Creative School students and researchers with physicians and medical practitioners to address pressing issues in critical health care.
 
The HUE Lab's current opportunity, "Surgical Bra Redesign", is the first of this R&D series. Students will have the opportunity to pitch their creative ideas for the design of an innovative new surgical bra to Surgical Oncologist Dr. Jory Simpson of St. Michaels Hospital.
 
Onewinning design will be selected, and the student will have the opportunity to work alongside Dr. Simpson for 1 year to further prototype and manufacture this design, as well as receive $10,000 compensation.
 
The virtual information session will take place on October 22 from 1-2pm. All students who wish to participate in this opportunity must attend the info session. Accommodations can be made for students who are unable to attend the live session.
