JOR, LIB, POD and RAC overnight power shutdown May 2
Facilities Management and Development (“Facilities”) is overseeing upgrades to the existing electrical switchgear system in Jorgenson Hall (JOR) to increase its lifespan. This system helps regulate power, and isolate and protect electrical equipment for improved reliability.
To facilitate the work, technicians are scheduling power shutdowns in JOR, the Library Building (LIB), Podium Building (POD) and the Recreation and Athletics Centre (RAC) to take place overnight on Friday, May 2 beginning at 9:30 p.m. until 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 3.
How this may impact you
Electrical power will be unavailable between 9:30 p.m. and 6 a.m. in JOR, LIB, POD and the RAC.
Lighting and electrical equipment will not function unless connected to the emergency back-up power system. The outage has been scheduled outside of the building’s operational hours to minimize the impact on occupants.
For public safety, only authorized personnel will be able to access the buildings throughout the power outage. Prior to the shutdown, TMU Security staff will circulate and instruct any remaining occupants to vacate the building. Security will remain onsite in case emergency access is required.
