DCC planned power outage the morning of Mar. 22
Facilities Management and Development (“Facilities”) is overseeing construction of the new Student Wellbeing Centre, located at 137 Bond Street. To support the work, technicians are scheduling a power shutdown of the podium of the Daphne Cockwell Health Sciences Complex (DCC) from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 22 to tie-in a temporary power line to the Student Wellbeing Centre to support its construction.
How this may impact you
All floors of the DCC podium (underground parking levels to the partial eighth floor) will be temporarily without power from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 22. Life safety systems like elevators, emergency lights and fire alarms will remain operable during the planned power outage. Please note the residence tower is not part of this shutdown and will have power.
For public safety, the DCC podium must be vacant during the power outage and only authorized personnel will be able to access the building. Prior to the shutdown, TMU Security staff will circulate and instruct any remaining occupants of the podium to vacate the building. Security will remain onsite in case emergency access is required.
Student residents are not required to vacate the residence tower during the power shutdown in the building’s podium. Access to the residence tower will not be restricted during the shutdown, with TMU Security staff present on the ground floor and eighth floor to assist residents entering and exiting the building.
Building occupants should shut off power to all sensitive equipment as power will be restarted intermittently during testing phases of the work.
The DCC garage will be temporarily closed from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. on March 22. Parking permit holders will be contacted by Parking Services advising them of the temporary closure.
