As an employer, the process to hire co-operative internship program students runs from November - April. Please find the steps and details outlined below.

Planning of hiring needs |
Identify your organization’s hiring needs (including duration) by creating job roles and descriptions for the internship position. The position may target a specific area of study or multiple areas. The position needs to be: 1) relevant to the specified area(s); 2) full time; 3) compensated; 4) provide the student with a rewarding, hands-on experience. |
Ideally, this should be completed 4-6 months prior to the student’s starting date. |
Advertising co-operative internship jobs |
Prepare a job description outlining the student role and responsibilities, in addition to the required skills necessary for the job. Email the FEAS co-op office to assist you in advertising (posting) your job to students. Note: If there are no applications upon your first posting, you may re-post a job. |
The job will be posted for 1-2 weeks, or based on your specific request as an employer. |
Managing student applications and shortlisting job candidates |
1) Reviewing applications: Student applications will be accessible by you, the hiring employer. 2) Planning for interviews: As the employer, you may decide to hold students’ interviews on campus or at your premises. 3) Making your selection: After conducting interviews with students, please email the FEAS co-op office with your feedback and decision. |
This process will last 2-3 weeks. |

Job offer(s) are extended by you, the employer, through a formal job offer and/or contract. |
Students have one week to accept your offer of employment. |

As an employer of FEAS co-operative internship students, financial incentives are available to you, including the Ontario co-operative education tax credit (external link) which offers a maximum of $3000 per each qualifying work placement.
