First Steps for New Students
1. Your Toronto Metropolitan University Online Identity
To use Toronto Metropolitan University’s online tools, you must first activate your Toronto Metropolitan University online identity by completing a series of web forms. During activation, you will pick your user name, such as: johndoe, john.doe, etc., known as your my.torontomu username and your password.
Although you can activate your online identity now (if you haven't done so already), you will have limited access to MyServiceHub and other online systems until August 1st.
After August 1st, you will be prompted to create your Toronto Metropolitan University email address when you log into my.torontomu.ca (opens in new window) .

2. Toronto Metropolitan University OneCard
The OneCard is the official identification card for the Toronto Metropolitan University community. As well as being the single most important piece of ID you possess during your time here at Toronto Metropolitan University it also serves as a convenience card for many of the services available on campus, including the library, printing and photocopying, food purchases, discounts, savings and more.
New students must apply online as soon as possible.. However students who have not cleared their Admission Condition(s) will not yet be able to apply. Information on how to apply can be found in the link below.

3. New Student Orientation
MA Orientation Session
Date: Monday, July 29, 2024 Time: 5pm-6pm Location: online (Zoom link will be sent out to incoming students)
PhD Orientation Session
Date: Tuesday, July 30, 2024 Time: 5pm-6pm Location: online (Zoom link will be sent out to incoming students)
4. Mathematics and Statistics Review/Primer in Mathematical Economics
All students entering the MA or PhD program must pass the Mathematics and Statistics Review and Primer in Mathematical Economics respectively. These courses are scheduled to run in August and is graded on a pass/fail basis. Students who do not pass, or are absent during the first scheduled exam, will be permitted one more attempt during the Fall term. If a student does not pass during his/her second attempt, he/she is required to withdraw from the program.
Attendance to the classes is not required, but it is highly recommended. However all students are required to attend the final exam. If you cannot attend the classes or final exam, please contact the course instructor immediately. The course instructor contact information can be found in the course outline. This years review will be offered online.
