Challenge Credits

A challenge credit grants Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) students an academic credit for a TMU course in recognition of skills and knowledge gained outside the traditional post-secondary school environment e.g. through work experience. The experience gained replicates the subject matter of the course material.

  • Not all courses may be challenged
  • Students must be formally enrolled into a degree or certificate program at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) to be eligible to apply for a challenge credit
  • Most degree programs allow a maximum of five one-term, one-course count challenge credits
  • The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education certificate programs allow a maximum of two one-term, one-course count challenge credits
  • Only courses that are applicable to meeting TMU program requirements will be considered for challenge credit
  • Courses already completed at TMU or another post-secondary institution may not be challenged
  • Courses that have been unsuccessfully challenged at TMU, are not eligible for challenge credit consideration
  • The Ted Rogers School of Business Management does not allow Challenge Credit for courses taught by the School
