Why Ted Rogers Co-op?

All 12 BComm majors at the Ted Rogers School of Management have the option to complete co-op.

As a co-op student, you will gain 16 months of paid, working experience at leading organizations in a variety of industries, including financial services, professional services, the public sector and more.  Meet a few of our employer partners below:

Practical, Hands-on Experience

This experience can be invaluable when you transition from an academic to a professional career, as you will have the opportunity to apply what you have learned from your courses in a professional workplace setting.

Likewise, when returning to your academic semesters, you will also apply what you’ve learned on your co-op work terms to your courses.

Pathway to Full-Time Employment

Employers value past co-op experiences when they're hiring for full-time positions, and many even look to hire their previous co-op students for full-time opportunities.

It's not just about the skills you have gained, but it is also about building a network of professional industry contacts and demonstrating your ability to adapt to a professional environment.

What is the Co-op Prep Program?

The Co-op Prep Program is a unique, experiential-based program which helps you build skills and career readiness as you start your first co-op work term. 

Prior to starting your first work term, you will participate in a series of professional development events such as:

Lumina Spark

You will complete a Lumina Spark (external link, opens in new window)  profile to assess your unique communication preferences.

Our Co-op Coordinators will work with you one-on-one to leverage your strengths and better understand your development areas in the workplace.

Kick off your co-op journey by participating in specialized workshops/sessions including:

  • Ways to leverage and communicate your strengths within the workplace
  • Workplace wellbeing training including Consent Comes First and Microaggressions
  • Networking with other co-op students
  • And more!

An opportunity for you to get in the ‘hot seat’ and learn/practice ways to interact in a professional working environment.

Continuously upgrade and enhance your technical skills through industry and facilitator-led Bootcamps.

Co-op students are required to attend a three-level Excel Bootcamp to advance their fundamental knowledge and application of the tool, to make you workplace ready.

In addition to ongoing resume and cover letter support, you will also complete at least one mock interview, where you will receive feedback on your interview skills to help you secure future work term offers.

Introducing Co-op Connect, where new Ted Rogers Co-op students are seamlessly matched with experienced Senior Co-op Mentors in an exclusive peer mentorship program*.

Mentees and Mentors are invited to exclusive events, plus our Senior Co-op Mentors enjoy additional mentorship opportunities from our esteemed Ted Rogers Alumni.
