Salima studied law at the University of Toronto where she was awarded the Edward J Kowal '65 Prize for outstanding achievement in corporate and commercial law. After articling at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP in Toronto, Salima worked as a corporate associate at Torys LLP where she represented clients on a wide range of matters including securities, M&A and pro bono charity law. More recently, Salima practiced consumer protection law with a B Certified Corporation where she focused on making banking services more accessible, fair and equitable for Canadians.

Upon entering legal practice, Salima became passionate about equity, diversity, and inclusion in law and began speaking at industry panels, mentoring students and young lawyers on how to remain authentic in their professional lives and advocating for the improvement of recruitment practices.

In her spare time, Salima co-founded a South Asian dance company with a purpose of creating a fun and safe cultural space and to provide amateur artists with a platform to share their talent with a broader community. She also loves to read, restaurant-hop and play tennis.
