Marshia Akbar is Research Area Lead on Labour Migration for CERC Migration, at TMU. Her research broadly encompasses economic and social integration of migrants in Canada. She is particularly interested in analyzing how migration and settlement policies shape the labour market integration of migrants across Canadian cities. She has an MA from Carleton University and a PhD from York University. She is an expert in qualitative data using NVivo and large analytics of quantitative data sets using SPSS and STATA. Marshia brings to the MEMO project expertise in Southeast Asia and specifically Bangladeshi migration to Canada and gender and entrepreneurship.
