The Fashion Research Collection always welcomes your donation inquiries!
If you wish to donate any funds to support the collection or have a garment that you would like us to consider accepting into the collection, please fill out the contact form located on the Contact page.
It is important to note that our primary aim is to fill collection gaps and to further support our goal of working towards an Inclusive, Decolonized and Sustainable collection. We are eager to highlight and share the lived and worn experiences of marginalized peoples and welcome donations that help us to amplify underrepresented communities.
It is helpful if photos of the item being worn and/or any information available of when it was purchased and/or worn accompany the donation inquiry.
Our Acquisition Committee considers items for donation. Tax receipts for donations of garments may be requested. Please be advised that some donations will require a written appraisal from a qualified Costume & Textile appraiser and we kindly ask that the donor consider donating the cost of the appraisal.
We welcome your financial support in terms of monetary donations. There are several necessary costs associated with accepting a donation into the Fashion Research Collection, which include the cataloguing, conserving, photographing, and storing of newly accepted items.
All monetary donations to the Fashion Research Collection are fully tax deductible. Please contact Alana Clarke, Associate Director of Development at alana.clarke@torontomu.ca to make a donation of funds in support of the Collection by credit card or cheque.
