Student Support
The Computer Science Undergraduate Calendar is your source for curriculum, program, and course information at Toronto Met’s Computer Science program. It will help you plan and organize your course requirements throughout your undergraduate degree. The Calendar will be updated annually for the next academic year.
The Computer Science Course Union (CSCU) (external link) represents full time students in the computer science program at Toronto Metropolitan University.
From academics to facilities, the CSCU has votes on the department council meetings and the curriculum committee, which have led to tangible change within the program. They strive to maintain strong lines of communications between the department staff and undergraduate students and host various social, career and academically related events throughout the year.

The Centre for Student Development and Counselling (CSDC) is a free and confidential counselling service available to all Toronto Met students. They offer a variety of services such as, individual counselling, group counselling, crisis support, workshops and much more. The CSDC services are provided by their friendly and professional team of psychologists, social workers, psychotherapists and counselling interns.
D2L Brightspace is the platform Toronto Met professors use to post academic material, accept assignment submissions and publish class announcements. Learn from tutorials on how to navigate D2L, and or learn from Toronto Met tutorials for other platforms you may encounter during your studies.
The Debug Room (external link) is a student support service (online via Zoom) available to all students enrolled in the Toronto Met Computer Science program.
The Debug Room is intended primarily for first and second-year students seeking support and guidance on labs, assignments, and understanding course topics. The Debug Room is also equally available for upper year students in the Computer Science program looking for co-op/internship guidance, campus opportunities and resources, and course concerns.
Appointments are 30 minutes and are available Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. Appointments can be held via Zoom, as well as in-person in ENG 268A. Students can book up to 2 sessions per day, with a maximum of 4 appointments per week.

There are several ways for students to get involved on campus. The Indigenous Student Services provides specialized services to First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples on campus. Indigenous students at TMU can receive support through various services and programs such as, Indigenous Traditional Counselling, Tutoring and academic support, Financial planning, and much more. To learn more about scholarships, awards & bursaries, resources and support services head over to the Indigenous Student Services.
New to Canada or looking for a global experience on campus? International Student Support can help you with finding a community, making connections, exploring and learning about other cultures, immigration advising, health insurance for international students, tax filing support in Canada, etc. They provide drop-in hours and one-on-one appointments.

MyServiceHub is TMU's online tool dedicated to accessing your personal, financial and academic information, as well as course enrollment. MyServiceHub Support offers tutorials and guidelines on how to navigate MyServiceHub throughout your undergraduate and graduate degree.
Office hours are scheduled times outside of class when you can meet with your professors. This provides you with an opportunity to ask questions and get clarification on content that was covered in class. Office hours are normally listed on the course syllabus for each course.

Safe spaces for students looking to explore their identity, join a community, connect and share their experiences are available. Students will have the opportunity to meet monthly for 1-2 hours to participate in facilitated discussion around topics like identity, community and role models.
Equity seeking groups include: Black Identified Students, Muslim Women Students, Mature Students, Women in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM), Filipino Students, Latinx/Hispanic or Spanish Speaking Students, Lusophone Students, Indigenous Students, 2SLGTBQIA+, and Students who Identify with a Disability.

The Undergraduate Student Guide will help you navigate your way through student services, essential policies and academic matters.
Toronto Metropolitan University provides Math and Computer Science tutoring services to all Toronto Met students. Computer Science support offers one-to-one tutoring. Math support offers one-to-one tutoring, group sessions and midterm and final exam reviews.

Consent Comes First (CCF) provides free, confidential, trauma-informed, healing-centred support to Toronto Met community members affected by sexual violence and other forms of gender-based violence.
TMU Recreation (external link) provides students with an opportunity to be active and encourage wellness on and off campus. They provide online events and programming such as group fitness classes, fitness socials, movement breaks, and much more. Women’s Only Hours are also offered for various recreational spaces and activities, please see Women’s Only Programming for more details.
TMU recreation has two fitness facilities on campus, the Recreation & Athletics Centre (RAC) and the Mattamy Athletic Centre (MAC). MAC reopens July 26, 2021 and RAC is currently closed for the time being.

In addition to an @torontomu.ca email, Computer Science students also have access to @cs.torontomu.ca email.
The Tri-Mentoring program offers Peer Mentorship to incoming first year students who are interested in being paired with a senior student who will provide guidance on how to transition into university life.
For 3rd year students and above, Tri-Mentoring provides Career Mentorship to assist students with the transition from university into the workforce, preferably in their field of interest.
Women in Computer Science (WiCS) is run by undergraduate students in the Computer Science program at Toronto Metropolitan University to provide extra support and encouragement to traditionally marginalized groups in the field of Computer Science.
Their mission is to encourage more women to pursue a degree in computer science, as well as foster retention of women within the program. They host events throughout the school year to bring students together allowing them to explore their interests and opportunities. WiCS hosts workshops, mentorship programs, programming lessons, conferences, networking and social events. For the time being, all events for the fall semester will be hosted online.
Co-op, Internships, & Student Jobs
Interested in working on campus? Career Boost offers tons of full-time and part-time on-campus jobs for eligible students looking to gain experience and financial aid.
The Co-op and Career Centre provides support to all students seeking help with their resumes, cover letters, interview preparation, job hunting and more. Toronto Met students and alumni can attend a workshop or book an appointment with a career specialist.
For students admitted into the co-op program, Toronto Met’s Co-op Portal will be the official source for co-op job opportunities and connecting employers with co-op and internship students.
