History of Design
This course encourages students to study design history and to recognize the influential role that it plays in the design process. It will provide an interdisciplinary exploration of the evolution of design set against the prevailing social and cultural infrastructure of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Students will be encouraged to use Design History as a means to understand technological change, the role of the media, issues of sustainability and the global implications of contemporary design production.
